"Basecamp takes a very interesting approach. It looks like its essentially an application specific weblog system. That said, the way they've tuned it makes it look pretty useful. I love the contact info along side posts/conversations, the simplified markup input and the ability to easily tie files to a post. Again, it doesn't appear to have a facility for doing manager-esque things like Gantt charts, but I think it might get the job done. Seems that candid words describing the progress of a system are better than an arbitrary chart. At $59 a month for unlimited projects, this sounds like a pretty good deal."
